painting clothing on daz heros and warriors long ago

long ago there was a how to page on one of a site how to paint your own clothing with a paint program
drawing your own ideas into the models , is there a link to any info i have looked all over the net

the artwork was all ready and rendered but later they would go back in the artwork and paint on
armor or clothing has any one done this before ?
