can you apply for disability?  it should be enough to pay a modest rent.  dunno

disability where i am wont cover cover apt building rent, i'd have to find a room in a private house.  kinda stuck cause i need a ramp.
not sure how assisted living actually assists.

As I understand it, assisted living means you live in a room about the size of a hotel room. There are communal areas with cooking and laundry service, etc. You can pretty much come and go as you please. Someone comes to check on you daily. If you have the money, you can go to an assisted living community and have a full apartment with those add-on services, but very expensive! When assisted living is available, the deal is, you have no money, you give them your SS money, and they do the rest. They do give back a small monthly stipend for add-on expenses, but it's ~$90/mo. Friends and relatives can provide gifts, but you can't have a lot of cash money or assets in your name.

    Edit to add:

If you have special needs and such, assisted living can eliminate a lot of stress. But with what's going on now, that could be scary, too.

Also add: I have no idea the parameters of anyone in this thread. If anything does not apply to you, please take no offense. I mean no harm!

My guess is that according to them (powers that be) I impulsively bought too much stuff I did not need or something like that. I am not sure if that is true or not.

What are the chances that anybody at Daz3d would impulsively buy things they don't need?

I still think it is far far better to buy things than to buy cigarettes, drugs, alcohol or to gamble.

If you are not spending on those 4 things nobody should be judging you!

    and

    the big one

as long as it is cash/debit not credit!

Forgive my ignorance but is she a minor, under the control of parents who fund her expenditures, or an elder living with adult children trying to control her spending? It's hard to tell based on the various posts in the Daz forum.  Based on the above response it would seem the latter, a senior.

It's a large adjustment! The staff cooks the meals and they have parties for the residents and their families at the holidays. There's coffee and alcohol (Happy Hour on Fridays). A doctor visits on a schedule. There are activities. It's halfway between normal life and the nursing home. The biggest problem, by far, is that family and friends may not come to visit, or at least not very often. And obviously, no one is visiting anyone now. sad I know someone in assisted living, and I feel awful about that last part.

I like the ramps idea. Plus rockets attached to the back of a wheel chair. Think Kibarreto makes that? I would buy that in a flash.

Unfortunately, I don't have money for that either and very little assets to my name. I live alone with my pussycats. Paying for things with cash debit is fine but if even that interferes with paying rent first, bank fees, utilities such as electricity, gas, phone, internet, bus or taxi, food and household maintenance... admit there is a problem so as to get help with it.

We are rooting for you. Yes there is a story there. About struggling with addiction and OCD. Avoiding hoarding or getting over it. Filling an empty space in our life or our minds. Finding that less is more. That wealth is more empty space to breath. Just some thoughts out loud, not saying this is you.

As far as nursing homes and the like, avoid them like the plague. If they claim to have 24 hour care, no... no they don't.

Most people die within five years of having their autonomy taken away.

It is a stupid group home. I got evicted in 2012 and could not get an apartment but could be placed on a stupid group home because of my ADHD and possibly my bipolar diagnosis. Trying to get out but it is extremely difficult due to my eviction in 2012.

I’m so frustrated that some of the reasons I had my technology taken away for stupid reasons that took forever for them to tell me.

I got a stupid phone that is not very smart. Now I'm afraid it is going to be taken away again for stupid reasons.

The reasons have always seemed a bit vague.

I have an Android Samsung 5 phone and iPhone 6 and iPad 2 Mini. There are a lot of free apps that can be downloaded from the Play store and App store. Although a lot of them are useful, I still prefer using the desktop computer as it is more accurate for movie editing, sound mixing, graphics, etc.

I only have one sevice provider for phone and internet. Both unlimited from Fizz. I switched from Koodo because it is lower price and unlimited. Security wise the phone is better for web browsing than my desktops which still run Windows XP or Mac OSX Leopard.

I hope you got to keep your desktop, as that is what Daz works on and that graphics could or should keep you from losing your mind. Tell them it is akin to 'Art Therapy'. Curtail your spending if need be.

Just checked when my PC membership expires.  It looks like it expires sometime in the 6th month which I think is June.  It also looks like I only have two choices for renewing and those are 6 months or annual renewal.  Right now isn 't the best time to renew, but Maybe if I behave right in April and May, I might be able to renew sometime in June.
