Hello
I had read Daz3d guide so to start the new year with some order i'm want to rebuild my content library.
The idea is to follow what the book said:
I had physical folders to find quickly things.
People
Wardrobe
Hairs
Indoor sets
Outdoor Sets
Porps
Poses
I had already mapped, Indoor Sets, Outdoor sets and Props, and it works very well.
Now i want to reinstall in new folders People, Wardrobe, Poses and Hairs
So the question is can i avoid to install Genesis and V5 and install only Gensis 2 with characters ?
I want to keep also poses, hairs and some dress of genesis and V5, that works whit Genesis 2, will they works even without the charaters installed ??
Have a great happy new year.
Kind Regards
Jack

Jack,
I believe it's different if you're using Poser or Daz3D - I use Poser, and the way I did it was to install everything into multiple Runtime folders, and then arrange the library folders afterwards to how I wanted them to appear.
I use a runtime for each of the main base figures, a separate runtime for my locations, one for props, one for poses, one for animals, one for monsters, then one for generic stuff that work with multiple figures....
It's a bit more hassle doing it that way, but with Poser I can load and unload the libraries I'm not using....

Pook
As long as you do not intend to USE auto fit for Genesis to G2F your fine, but the Autofit will need a Genesis Clone to auto fit G1 items to the G2 figure properly.
Hello
Yes you are right but i followed Daz book advice.
Also this post : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/11176/#160909
In the tests i'm doing, everything works right now, but for example in poses, i had only one article under Poser library that is for V5 poser only, while under Daz i have all poses that are separated in two categories, Genesis and Genesis 2
Because i want to work only with Genesis 2 and i bought a lot of characters also i modify them as i like with Genesis 2 morph.
I would like to get rid of Genesis, Victoria 5 and some others charaters that i don't use and start fresh, whit Genesis 2 only.
Kind Regards
Jack
Sorry i was replying to dj.pooka
You raised a very important point, yes i need autofit.
If i install only GenesisStarterEssentials without Victoria 5 will autofit work ??
Kind Regards
Jack
Yes, that would solve many issues you might run into. Except one. Without V5 installed you will not have the V5 UV map and many G2F textures use the V5 UV set.
EDIT: It might be included with SOME V6 figures but I have not checked.
Thanks so very much
Ok so at the end for me, It's not a big issue I can install Genesis essential and Victoria 5, what count is to avoid to install, morphs, characters etc.
This way i should have a much lighter DB and i can find stuff easily.
Kind Regards
Jack

Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials includes the Victoria 5 UV set for G2F.
Well there you go. As I use all the figures I have never bothered to check.
Sorry guys
So i can avoid Viky 5 but what about Autofit ?
I need anyway Genesis Starter essentials ?
I could place it inside "My library" where i will put also Genesis2FemaleStarter Essential
Then begin to put Viky 6, Olympia 6, etc in people folder.
And do the same whith clothes and hairs, even if some are for Genesis.
Is it correct ?
Kind Regards
Jack
Autofitting Genesis clothes to Genesis 2 shouldn't require that Genesis be installed as far as i know. If it does you can always install it when you discover that anyway.
Very well !
Thanks so very much for your great help !
My best wishes for a very happy new year to everybody

Hello
Just to let you know everything works great !
There has been only a problem with figures texiture, because of an error, the program could not find this file : AoA_Subsurface.dsf
What i did was simply copy from old directory, this folder inside my new content :
DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\Age of Armour\Subsurface Shaders\AoA_Subsurface, to the new folder.
And everything worked again perfectly.
Thanks so very much to all, this new folder tree it's really what i loked for, and smart content also works great.
Kind Regards
Have a very happy new year
Jack
Make sure you install "Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio" -- in addition to the SubSurface Shader it includes all the Uber lights and surfaces.
Ok thanks so much ;-)
I checked now that you told me, and i don't have any default light, it' weird because i installed Genesis 2 female starter essential and it should be insde it.
I keept MyLibrary as default folder then charaters etc are in others.
Maybe i should reisntall Daz, delete the DB files inside C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D
This way i should have basically a fresh start.
Kind Regards
Jack
EDIT
Looks like they are inside Genesis Starter Essentials
The issue it's that i can't find Lights and Shaders :(
In Product Library it's listed on the "DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro" page.
They used to be part of GSE and G2SE, but were pulled out separately for those who don't use Genesis and/or G2
Thanks !
What a dumb i'm, i didn't saw it this morning :red:, i download subsurface shader base and didn't noticed it.
I have been able to copy some the content from the old library and worked but was not showing in preset, now i have to delete all it will take some time.
Anyway what counts it's find a solution, i think i did quite a decent job, finding things it's really more easy this way.
Still need to create some products, because there are no metadata, and make some refining, but it definitly worth.
And of course i must really thank you guys, for your patience and your amazing skills, and great knowledge.
Kind Regards
Jack
