Epic Godrays not working

I recently purchase https://www.daz3d.com/epic-props-godrays-volumetric-light-for-iray and am having trouble getting the same results as shown in the product. The issue is, in the first step you need to select a prop, either "Directional" or "Dispersive". You then in step 2 select a base style. After doing that there are a few other selection you can make and then do a render to test your results. My problem is that no matter a select in step 2, or 3 or 4, the prop remains solid instead of transparent and never produces the results promised.
Has anyone using this product received the same results? Is there a setting not mentioned in the instructions that I need to apply?
What is promised
What I end up with. The beam of light is just a solid object with a light filter in it. (see attached)
