Can I change default scene settings?

I find myself occasionally forgetting to do things like increasing max samples or seconds.  Is is possible to change the defaults to, for example, the maximum rather than 5k samples?

Yes, create a scene with the render settings you want as defaults and edit your DS preferences to start DS and new scenes with that scene. Be sure you have preferences configured to save render settings with scene files.

After you save the scene go to where you saved it in Explorer, right click on the icon and set the attribute to Read Only, that way you can't overwrite it by accident :)

You can also save the settings by going to Save As/Render Settings. Once you have done that find it in your My Library, right click on the icon and at the bottom of the pop-up menu click on Create Custom Action and it will be added to the Script Menu, that will be created if it doesn't exist, and then any time you want to set your render settings back to your default you just go to the Script Menu and choose your saved custom action to load them.

    Both excellent suggestions!
