smart content only offers to scroll through small subsets of items

smart content only offers to scroll through small subsets of items. I did some checks eg with poses:

In content lib under  categories under  poses: by function: standing:  I have 3014 items listed and you can scroll through them and skip pages.

In smart content there is shown beside the filter the following amounts
for poses: 605+
for poses:by function 1105+
for poses:by function: standing 1200+
(also this numbers are strange because the higher numbers are for more specific subset)

But you can only scroll through a small subset of the mentioned number of items.
Is this an error? Can I adjust something to have all available or do I something wrong?
But I mean not to make the selected subset smaller eg by filtering. I want to have access to the whole result set.

(you can easy check this behavior by choosing a category with a high number of items and use filter a-z and z-a. Their results are not the same items - eg a... is in a-z but not in z-a)

Do you have the "Filter by Context" box checked?

    If so,

Are all 3014 poses compatible with the character you have selected in the scene?

also not every pose is added to it's parent catagory by the vendors. That's why you are seeing this discrepency in the itme counts. The item may only appear in "Poses>By Function>Standing", but not under "Poses".

No, I don't use filter because I want to see all.
So I assume 1200+ (smart content poses ... standing) means about 3014 (content lib poses ... standing).

But the topic/problem is that the smart content only offers to scroll through small subsets of items which is found/organized by smart content. It seems that it recognized there are 1200+ as a result but doesn't offer to scroll through (see my a-z/z-a remark).

Smart Content limits the number of items shown by design - it is done in the expectation that the user will aply other filters to narrow the selection shown. Edit: it is possible to increase the number of items shown through a script, but not directly through the UI.

  • Unfortunately, as Richard stated, there is no way to see the "other items", once it shows a random "+" next to the number. For some strange reason, when they went from 4.9 to 4.10+, they put a limit on the database return list. It is frustrating, because you can't narrow a list down to "unknown" or "unseen" items, if you have no idea what they are.

What I do, is the following...

Jump between "ITEMS" and "PACKAGES", also, try typing a-z and 0-9, alone... That will give you more isolated sorting. Oddly, you can't search for symbols "!_*&$#^%@()" which are also used in the names. Nor does the sorting seem to work correctly. (Sorting by newest product first, will still show only the returned items, but in ABC order, not in "newest product first order".)

It is totally random how it selects items to display. Unfortunately, many people are using "!" in the names, sort-of search-abuse, to be listed on top of the list. (A practice that I wish daz would penalize, remove and/or ignore in the sorting lists.)

Also, this makes listing of some items NEVER show. Because items (sometime, randomly again), in sub-groups will appear in main-groups lists. Thus, if you only have an item that is in the main-group, and it is one of the "+" items, you can never find it. As well as some items in some sub-groups not displaying in the main-groups. (You may be in a main group, where there are sub-groups, but only see 10 items in the list, though there are 20+ more items in some of the sub-groups. You have to manually open each sub-group and sub-sub-group, to find those items.)

There is always the "search" box, try the SMART tab and the CONTENT tab. It will search item-names, item-descriptions, and also item-tag-words, for all content. (You can also tag items with words too, for ease of finding them later. Stone, brick, rock, wall, block etc...)

Normally, when I am looking for something, I search daz's store and unhide what I own... If you own it, it shows the "Cloud" symbol, instead of the shopping-cart. Then just search for that items name, try quotes too, in daz3d. I wish they built that function into daz itself. It would make searching much easier, in some instances. (Show only items that I own.) However, it will not help if you own items that you didn't get through the daz store. A normal google search will help with that.

Daz had no problem displaying over 6000+ results, in the scrolling window. I am not sure why they reduced it to only 1200+, then on some groups, they limit showing only 600+, at times. (Totally random numbers. Hiding things that don't need to be hidden. While showing many things that should be hidden, like notes from the developers, as items. Another form of marketing abuse. :P)

Thank you for your long answer. It's also I already did  - especially " when I am looking for something, I search daz's store and unhide what I own" but because their shop search is much better than the daz studio search. What a pity!

But I mean also if 600+ is mentioned it is not offered to me to scroll through 600 . It seems shorter.

That's really strange to hinder people the use of the items they own. It seems they don't want that customers buy products so you can see all your stuff if under the list limit.

I want to look at all my items of a category to have an impression what to choose next.  Why shall I buy further  poses, ... if I will not see them in studio.
