"Happy New Year To All"
Hello help needed please in the lighting dept.
Trying to set up lighting for a scene but the Headlamp stays on (as it should} but do we have
any control over this at all? Can we dim it?
I added one spot lamp to the scene set it to green. A spot render displayed where the green
light hit the subject and all the rest was washed out with the Headlamp.
I thought that as soon as you added a light to a scene this Headlamp was supposed to turn off?
Thanks for any help
Regards Jon.

Yes, adding a regular light of any kind should block the headlamp. It is possible to turn it back on in the preview, via the Window menu, but then you shouldn't see any other lights. How does the scene render? Do you have an environment light loaded?
Did you use a Daz spotlight or a custom one? In general, any lights added will automatically disable the headlamp, but in the case of some such as UberAreaLight, the light itself doesn't disable it. In the latter case however, omnifreaker gives you a 'Headlamp Blocker' light which should disable the headlamp. If you can't find a solution to your problem, perhaps loading in an UberAreaLight and deleting the light while keeping the Headlamp blocker might be a decent workaround.
Thanks for both your replies.
This problem seems at the moment to be associated only to the prop I am using
Boundless Journey , a horse drawn caravan used by travelers .Have tried other props
without any problems.
This prop comes with a light included which I did remove.without any difference to this issue.
Two images here with two Daz distant lamps . One before render the other after.
Please note the wheels and chimney and grass do not seem to be affected?
Turning off the preview light from Window menu does not change things.
The lights on but cannot find from where.lol
Lowering the intensity has no effect.
thanks Regards John
I was going scatty last night, wondering what the heck was going on, then I remembered this thread. Not sure if it's the same issue or not, but regardless of what lighting I added the Default Camera continued to use the headlamp lights. I'd added an AoA ambient, so ditched that and added, quickly, a point light. No change. I deleted all lights and converted a hastily added plane primitive to UberArea and ... no headlamp blocker appeared.
Adding an extra camera and using that worked, but the default camera (if/when I switched to it) continued to use the headlamp.
That's not lighting - it's the reflection map. I thought those items had DS-native materials, but maybe not - in any event you want to lower the reflection strength and/or remove the reflection map; several of the older Redhouse sets suffer from that.
Also make sure that you don't have the Ambient channel cranked up to 100%. Since (roughly) the ambient setting says "If no other lights are shining here, apply an ambient lighting factor instead", you can get some unwanted effects that way too.
Thanks to you all for your help and advice.
Will try out your thoughts over the weekend and or look for another Romany Caravan.
Kindest regards
John.
Hello again,
Well fixed the problem at last.
Seems "you hit the nail right on the head" Richard. Reflection Maps.
Having selected each item from the Scene tab going into the Surfaces and finding reflections reset that to zero 0% from 100%
Spot render....Bingo all back to normal....Phew !!
First time have used "Region Navigator" from tools menu. found that most help full in selection of items too.
Thanks to all of you guys for your input it makes life pleasant.
Kindest Regards
John
