new beta quirks: new camera and custom menu items funkiness

anybody else having these issues with the new beta?
- new camera screated via the menu dropdown create>new camera are trickier to name than ever. not only do you have to remember to select 'use current view' (which i always wish was the default auto-selection in this menu), you now have to name the camera twice. once for the camera's name, and once for its 'tag'. and, of course, the auto-selected field--the easiest to type in--is not the displayed name the camera at all.
seems like it might be nice to add tagging as a selectable option in the 'create camera' popup menu. but the focus should be on making it easy to name the new cam. i don't need to tag my cameras, personally--though i often wind up with upwards of thirty cameras in a scene. names are informative enough.
- some items added to the custom dropdown menu fail to appear in the actual menu now. they're only visible in the workspace>customize view. editing those items via workspace>customize results in the item's assigned name disappearing, and being replaced by a long string of numbers and letters in the dropdown menu. once in place, this field of code cannot be edited--that is, replaced by a meaningful name. the text can't even be selected.
so 'add custom items' is effectively useless on my machine now. aargh.

anyone else running into these? any suggestions for getting them to play nice again?
