Help needed with long skirt creation.

I am trying to make a long skirt for Genesis, BUT once I have used the transfer utility the mesh is all messed up. (See 1st Pic.)

If I try to change the shape or the pose of Genesis the mesh explodes! (see 2nd Pic)

Please, please, please, can someone save my sanity by explaining in simple terms what I am doing wrong and how do I fix it.

I found that making clothes fit Genesis was relatively easy, UNTIL I decided to make some long skirts and dresses.

Well, first you probably want to remove the foot bones or at least give them zero weight for all their transforms. Did you model the skirt to fit the base Genesis shape, or did you model to the female shape and then use Reverse source shape in the Transfer utility?

This skirt was modelled on the Genesis V4 shape, but the same thing happens when I model on the Genesis base shape.

I did use the reverse option as well.

    Can't anyone help?

I'm so frustrated with this that I shall give up if I don't get any help.

I'll go back to plain old shirts and skirts.:-/

I don't know what's happening, but perhaps if you post a screenshot showing the weightmaps for the rotations that cause the issue (assuming you can pin it down that precisely) it may suggest something.

Have you seen the tutorials for rigging skirts? Might help.

    All good tutorials.

Wendy, could you provide the process you are currently using and some images as you work through it? That may help us to see what is happening. I know you have done short skirts before long skirts are a similar process so should work. At least my attempts have done so using Jan's starter dress.

Just wanted to add what's happened looks similar to what you get in hexagon sometimes when you add thickness...vertices exploding all over the place.

Yes I've seen both of those tutorials and tried to follow them.

Thansk Pendria, I will look into the thickness problem, although I don't think I added it to the skirt.

I have just made yet another long dress and used Blondie's Donor Rigging Dress and this time it seems to have worked!

Not the way I wanted to do it, but at least I can now stop pulling my hair out!

I love that set too. And her tutorial is also very helpful.

I've got Bobbies Rigging for skirts but not Blondies. I have Blondies rigging for base figures with the gingerbread man. Could you please provide a link? I tend to grab everything I can on rigging.

Oh the heat wave is getting to our brains ... I think I've confused a few names here. Sorry. No problem, I would just hate to have missed getting anything on rigging or modelling. I wish it was hot here, we have temperatures of 5 degrees c recently which for Melbourne is quite cold.

Sorry it was my mistake to put Blondies. It should of course have been Bobbie 25.
