Installed content search

Hello everyone,
I'm new to DAZ Studio
I'have installed content from a .zip archive (from Renderosity) by merging the runtime folders..
Now I can load the content successfully
The problem is if i use the search function of the content library I don't get any results..

Also, are metadata files usually stored in data folders?
If my zip doesn't have any data folder the installed product will not appear in the smart content, am I right?

Any suggestion for keep a well organized library is well welcomed

Thanks

The data folder holds the native geometry, morph, and rigging information - the metadata files, if any, are in Runtime\Support. Non-DAZ content will rarely have metadata, but you can categorise the content yourself if you wish - or even create metadata to add it to Smart Content.

    Thank you!
I realize I can't also create subcategories.. I get "unable to create container:" error
Reading other post is suggested that it can be caused by CMS that isn't correctly started.
I've tried to manually stop it (Stop DAZ Content Management Service) an restart it.
And finally to change VerboseLevel value in the "DAZ Content Management Service.ini" to 3 instead of 0
This is what I get in the log:

Looks like it's running properly from that log snippet...but that only looks like a few fractions of a second's worth of log data....is there more, like an entry if you try to create/categorize something?

This is what is contained in the last .log in the "vlogs" folder in /Library/DAZ 3D/Content Management Service
It doesn't change if I try to create sub-categories

Do your DS has connection to the CMS? if you set loglevel=3 you will see a lot of things in the log whenever you browse the content library.
Check you DS log if it says something about error connecting to ValentinaDatabase.

And, what version of OS are you running on? There are sometimes some issues starting the CMS on 10.9.

    Thanks everyone for the help.
    I'm on 10.9.1
Where can I find the DS log?

    That's what I suspected.

If you use Activity Monitor.app can you see the process DAZ Content Manager Service in the list (set to show all processes)? If not try to restart your system, does the CMS start then?

    Well, it was not there.
After restarting it's there but it's the only process, except Time Machine, is grayed out.
I've tried again creating sub categories without luck.

"Apps that are no longer running but have recently used a measurable amount of energy will be displayed grayed out."

So it's not running at present, right?

Yupp, it stops for some reason, most likely a corrupt database file.

You can try to delete the file named ContentDB.ind (it's the index-file).

Did you see more in the log now btw?

Can't find any ContentDB.ind, where it's supposed to be? I've looked in /Library/DAZ 3D/Content Management Service

Now CMS totally disappear from Activity Monitor

I've tried restart DAZ and create a sub categories,
the last log lines now are:

Which OS did you have when you installed the CMS?
I think there have been some enhancements to the installer (which you find in the DIM directory in /Applications/DAZ 3D.

If my memory is good I had this same OS.
Also I've tried to reinstall it delating the CMS folder

I don't have any DIM directory, I have
    bin
    displays
    docs
    Frameworks
    imageformats
    phonon_backend
    plugins
    resources
    scripts

I have installed DAZ from this file "DAZStudio_4.6.1.39_Mac64.app"

So I assume Install Manager isn't included in this file, right?

Finally, after a lot of tries, I've managed to download the DIM
I've installed it with no problem
Then I've stopped the CSM, delated the DAZ3D folder in Library, and installed from the file in /DAZ3DIM1/csm
During installation I get this error:

An unexpected error occurred while installing “DAZ Content Management Service.”
Please contact customer support for assistance (www.daz3d.com/i/support).

can this be because the file in your link is for 32bits? is there a 64 bit version?

Anyway after restarting my mac now the CSM is in the activity monitor.

Creation of sub categories still doesn't work

Weird, do you use any special characters like " ' in that name?
I did categorize before but got too much DB corruptions so I stopped.
I just made two (on 10.8 though), gonna try on 10.9.1, hang on.... works there too. Just created My 30s cat. I could create Bad ' Name " too so it must be you database.

To remove the database I really recommend stopping CMS, move the whole CMS folder to trash and empty trash to it's gone, reboot, then reinstall as it is run on startup it might be still running even if you stop it. Be sure it is gone before installing again.

If the database files have been corrupted, that is what you might experience (I've worked with Valentina in a project myself for over ten years and I know how picky it can be.) But databases are really just a way to corrupt things, they always become corrupted, part of their nature.

    This is what I've done:

    stopped CMS
controlled in Activity Monitor if it's effectively stopped
    delated the CMS folder
    restarted the mac
controlled in Activity Monitor that CMS isn't there
reinstalled CMS (this time I've got again the error, so maybe isn't Gatekeeper)
the files in CMS seems to be there so I've restarted the mac
controlled that in activity monitor CMS is running
opened DAZ and try creating sub folders with no luck

have you reimported MetaData after craetinga new DB to be sure that the tables are created in the DB. I'm stumped by your problem so thats why I try to think of different things that may fail.

    You do that from DS.

I've tried installing Victoria 4.2 Base from DIM.
Then content DB maintenance -> reimport Meta-data..
    nothing..
Also I don't see Victoria in smart content, is this normal?
