Changing User File Location...Possible?

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have 2 harddrives on my computer. My main drive is C. My backup drive is F. I installed DAZ and DIM on my F drive. I also installed my DAZ content file on F. My problem is that I have a duplicate file at C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library. Everything I install in my DAZ content file is added there as well. Is there a way to change that to F? I tried to do it in DIM settings, but it won't let me. I have over 2500 DAZ items to download and not nearly enough space on my C drive, which is why I have the F drive, for backup space.

Suggestions?

  • As well? DIM will isntall to the current path, set in DIM - it won't install to two locations (except for things like plug-ins to multiple release channels, but that is not relevant for content). Please post screen shots showing your path settings in DIM and DS.

No, I want everything on my F drive. I need the space on my C drive for other stuff. I think these are the screen shots you want? It's the path to the "Content Data Base" I'm trying to change to my F drive. I don't want DAZ on my C drive at all. I want everything on F drive...if that's possible.

  • You need to click the + in the Installation tab, give the new location a name, click the ... button, and select the folder. Then at the botom of the tab click the Current button and pick the new location. That will take care of the content. You will also need to set that path in DS, if you haven't

You may need to change the CMS location in DS - Edit>Preferences>CMS settings.

  • It worked! Thank you so much. I've been wrestling with this for days. Now, I just have to wait for everything to install.

If you have time to answer another question...is there a way to install content from 3rd party venders (Renderosity or free sites for example) and have them appear in my "smart content" panel in DS?

Some content will coem packaged for DIM, usually via the Content Package Assistant. If not you would need to manually set categories and compatibilities - it doesn't take that long, even for me (and I usually forget a step and have to back--track at least once).

I can't thank you enough. I downloaded the Content Package Assist program from DAZ, watched a couple of youtube videos on how it works, and now I am installing my 3rd party content. This is wonderful and you've made it so much easier for me. Thank you again.
