Can't See Dforce Hair In Iray Viewport

Hi,

I am unable to see the Dforce hair in the Iray viewport.

Is it possible to view the Dforce hair in the Iray viewport instead of just being able to see it in the textured shaded viewport and when it is rendered?

Thanks.

There's a setting called "preview PR Hair" in the "line tesselation" parameters for the hairs which enables preview of the hair in Iray preview.

Sorry such an old thread but even setting this to the "On" setting my character is bald...  Is there another item that needs to be configured to see this in iray preview?

Got it working... Oh man I see it's a little more complicated and you have to do the following:

    1) You need to set "preview PR Hair"  to "On" like Leana said.
    2) Make sure under the "Parameters" tab that General->Simulation->Hair-Pre Render (PR) is set to "On"
    3) You need to set "Viewport Line Tessellation Sides" to a minimum of "2".  This can be found by selecting the hair and then under "Parameters" tab go to General->Simulation->Hair->Line Tessellation

    Hope that helps someone.

Thank you so much! I only recently started playing with this hair and could not figure it out.
I had managed to make it visible on accident once so I knew it could be done.
These instructions helped me a great deal.

I think perhaps a hair system that kills your GPU (8Gb GPU) and CPU (3900X, 32Gb), and that cannot easily be used in the viewport is very anti-Daz in ethos (supposed to be easy to use compared to more industrial strength 3d programs, isn't it).

I followed your instructions and still cannot see the hair, so I've given up.  It's a real pity because there are some great styles available, especially Cyberpunk genre, with some great mats too but they all appear to be using this hopeless system.  I'm sure they "work" fine if you have the knowledge (something else other than the above is missing from mine), but they'd also work fine without this kind of system, i.e. just styling and texturing, even d-force poly strips.
