How to do Oversized T-shirt? (Dforce)

glowleafglowleaf Posts: 15

I'm trying to get the oversized t-shirt look as seen in this reference. Any ideas how to manage that? I have scaled up the t-shirt a bit and up till a point it works, but not by much. Scaling it up more messes it up. Is there another trick? Is there a product I can use? I'd like it to be large enough like a t-shirt dress, like in the reference photo.

Last year, I successfully made clothing that was too big for a child. I haven't tried this in the latest version of dForce, so I don't know if it still works that way. I think you can use the same technique to accomplish your goal. Read the comments I made on the forum posts in these two links for some tips.  (link link

    Try this:

    1. Fit the dForce shirt to your character.
    2. Scale your character (not the shirt) to a larger size using the scale parameter in the Parameters pane.
    3. Create a keyframe at the beginning of the Timeline with the character at the larger scale.
    4. Create a keyframe later in the Timeline with the character scaled back to 100%.
    5. Run a dForce simulation with animation.

There was a dForce oversize T-shirt by Aave Nainen, but it's no longer in the store.

You could try https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-cozy-outfit--props-and-poses-for-genesis-8-females and see if that works. I do know that https://www.daz3d.com/boyfriend-t-shirt-wet-and-dry-for-genesis-3-female-s works with dForce (at least the dry version) as I tried it on G8F once without too much fiddling.

The scaling technique still works in DS 4.12.0.67. Here is the original shirt and the oversize version. In both cases I used an animated dForce simulation. This is Olympia 8, who is quite buxom. I used a technique I use frequently for characters like that - I started the simulation with Olympia 8 Body dialed to only 50% and used Breasts Gone 50% and animated up to Olympia 8 Body 100% and Breasts Gone 0%. For the oversized shirt, I started with Olympia 8 at 125% scale and animated her to 100% scale. For the oversized shirt I also changed the dForce surface settings to add more stretch and expand and less friction.

I used the T Shirt in dForce Wardrobe & Shaders 1 for Genesis 8 Female(s)

What are the settings for that? Just point me where to look. The smoothing iterations?

Contradiction-Expansion in surface setting. And to expand it shall be above 100; I would try 120.

Select the shirt in the Scene pane. Then open the Surfaces pane. You should see all of the individual surfaces of the shirt. (You might have to click to expand the shirt in Surfaces to see those individual surfaces.) Select one or more surfaces and scroll down in the list of settings for that surface. Toward the bottom of a long list, you will find the dForce surface settings. You will see things like Friction, Dynamic Strength, Self Collide, Damping, etc. You can change those settings individually, or you can use the Surfaces pane context menu to change multiple settings at once to make the fabric stiffer or silkier, more or less stretch, etc. When I get back to my computer withDaz Studio, I'll add a few screenshots.

    Edit: Here are the screenshots.

If you are going to use the T Shirt in the same product I used, I can send you my dForce Surface settings for the oversized shirt.

I have a TeeDress for G2F by Kaleya in my runtime that I got as a freebie from somewhere, possibly a Christmas giveaway or an issue of DS Creative. The same vendor has an oversize G3F tee on sale at Rendo, I don't know if it Dforces.

Tried it on a draft, then on a proper render, managed to get the scaling trick to work. But it only works well on the dforce t-shirt from the dforce wardrobe, so I bought that one. A minor issue is that you need to put the two keyframes at least 30 frames apart to get a good cloth drop. But yeah, it works, so thanks everyone! This is an awesome forum.

Barbult, thanks so much. I'm gonna make a note of all this to test it. I love dforce but it freezes so many times that it's maddening.
