Character's skin too glossy or shiny

How do i reduce the skin reflectiveness of my character because it looks like hes sweating pretty bad while just sleeping.

  • Iray (which is the default) or 3Delight? And are the materials set up for the renderer you are using? It may help to say which character it is as different PAs (creators) take different approaches to skin, so the answer may vary.

Character is Standard Mei Lin 8 and Iray.

  • Another thing I should have asked is how you are lighting the scene.

Another thing I should have asked is how you are lighting the scene.

I only put a few pointer lights above her head shining at 4500k and 15000 lumens so there is a glow of light around the dark room.

But i fixed the problem by just changing her skin with another character.

Changing the skin will work, too, but it will severely limit your character skin selection if you're unable to manipulate the various surface settings. For glossiness on Mei Lin 8, you should try increasing the Dual Lobe Specular Roughness 1 setting. There are two of them as well as Specular Weight & Specular Reflectivity, so you might have to play around with the others' settings. I would start with the Dual Lobe Specular Roughness 1 & 2 settings first to get rid of the wet/oily skin look, and if the skin ends up looking like you have the glossy reflectivity & roughness cranked up all the way, then you'll need to reduce the dual lobe specular reflectivity.

Ah okay, many thanks for the extremely helpful tip Magog.
