What the heck is causing this?

Hi all, sorry if this has been addressed previously, but I seem to be having an 'intermitent' problem.  For this situation, I'm using the -"PW Twin Peask Moutain Cove" - Set with it's default lighting at 'Bright' - When I tried a first test render I get these strange black blotches around the figures head (Emery - with Fitness morph) and as you can see her blue eyes become black.

Now, using the same figures and pose.  I do another test without the set using an HDRI sky only for lighting (which should be similar to the 'Sky' from the set and now there's none of that odd coloration...

Can anyone help explain what's going on and how some possible steps to quickly fix it?

Thanks in advance.

How far are your figures from the world center?

You need to move the characters as close to (0, 0, 0) as you can and then move the environment to where it will make the people look like you move them in the environment instead of moving the environment around the people.

I guess a bit too far.  I wasn't aware that there was a limitation when it came to movement around a set...

So, I've tried it... And it seems to have worked!  So from now on it looks like I'll be moving the environment as opposed to the figures.  One day, someone will have to expain to me why that causes problems, but until that day... This is mor than good enough!

Thank you both for the thoughts and the fix!

  • Thanks Kerya, that looks like something I might need if this sort of thing pops up again!
