CPU Recommendation

Unfortunately my CPU chipset went bad, and I am in need of upgrading.  

I render Iray with an nVidia 2080Ti.

Are there any CPU processors Daz recommends for rendering?  I usually have my cards and my CPU render.

The computer shop I use recommends an 8-core i7.

They didn't think the i9's gave much more performance, but cost a lot more.  Given, the majority of the rendering I do is done from my video card, so I don't think it matters that much.

Your shop is ripping you off.

Since you need both a CPU and motherboard if you want new (you could just replace the motherboard and keep the CPU BTW) I'd recommend something like a R5 3600 and an X570 motherboard which will be cheaper, if you go with a cheaper mobo.
