How can you paint a symbol onto an object?

I have an oval-shaped object I want to have a symbol on, but I don't see how it can be done. Does it involve another program or add-on package?

You can make your symbol in a painting or photomanip program and then add it using the LIE (Layered image editor). If you know the UV map of your object it will be easier to know eher to place it, else it's a bit of trial and error. You can access the LIE by right clicking on the map you want to alter in the surface settings
Linwelly, I have Photoshop so I can use it to make my symbol. But I don't know where to find the "LIE". Is that in Daz Studio 4.11 or is it supposed to be in Photoshop? Never worked with UV map before so I'm unfamilar with that as well. When you said to right click on the 'Map' I assume you mean the UV Map. But how do I get the map?
Thanks for the answer. I just don't know enough to understand it.
Yes, the LIE is a tool in DAZ studio, if you follow the link below there is a brief tutorial I made a while back on how to use it. If you still have questions after that just keep bugging me (if you write @Username in my case @Linwelly in your post I will get notified about that .. now I'm getting a note from myself LOL)

Linwelly, thank you for the info. I think that will do it. Will have to play around with it.
Okay, I've played around and read your post. You said...." For most cases its enough to use the base colour, click on the field and then on layered image editor,..." What field? Still don't know where 'LIE" is. I've using Daz 4.11, is that post compatible for this version?
LIE is present in every image box in the surface parameter fields. Right-click on a box (e.g., diffuse color). A drop down box opens so you can select Layered Image Editor. Use the + - buttons on the right hand middle of the dialog to add a layer. Highlight the layer you added and click on the Resource button to load an image. Use the other tools to move, scale, rotate, flip, etc. the image you loaded. You can have multiple layers and adjust opacity as needed.
Okay, I think I have it. My object doesn't have the option for "Diffuse Strength" or "Diffuse Color". But it does have "Base Color". Right clicking doesn't bring up the LIE option but the down arrow button to the left does.
Thanks to the both of you for the info. Now, when I'm more awake, I'm going to have some fun with it.
