does anyone know of any butterfly people out there?

I have tried dform-ing some mertails for a body
I cannot dform the ears anywhere near what I would have hoped for

working with G2, G1, or even V4/M4 V3/M3 if necessary

all help is appreciated!

Oh, there are so many butterfly wings for Daz people for out there... In the DAZ3D store alone, there's Faerie Mine for Genesis 1, Pixiedust for V4/A4, and the Ultimate Butterfly Collection for the generation 3 figures.

Almost all of the characters from Thorne, Sarsa, and Mada have elf ears.

If none of these are suitable, you might want to ask on the FaerieWylde forums, where those of us who love the digital fae folk hang out.

yes thank you there are lots of lovely wings out there... I have wings I can use and I have the Ultimate Butterfly Collection on my wishlist

I am looking to create an image with an actual butterfly type body for the leg area and a human upper half with the typical butterfly type feelers on the ear area

this is where I was trying to dform a mermaid tail to look like a butterfly body
maybe I should try a snake tail instead
I was hoping to get some type of butterfly body part that I would be able to pose along with the figure much as we can now with the mermaid tails or gorgon characters

any feeler type props or morphs??

    any other thoughts??

You inspired me to do something.
First I made a sort of cocoon in Blender, and then I thought: wait I have a maggot from Noggins.
And that is what she is wearing.

    Okay, I see.
I just created a thingy that almost fits under Genesis female (I'm not a modeler)
If you make everything invisible from Abdomen1 down, take a good texture/shader, maybe a little postwork...

But it that case your character has no legs to stand on.

I think I actually prefer that it is a butterfly body and no legs. When looking at a butterfly image the legs actually appear to be more closely placed to the arms.
If I can figure out what makes the best butterfly body then I can add an additional figure to place the legs where I want them.

In my image I have the morphed mermaid tail attached to the body like in tjeb's example. But I also went as far as to use the burlap doll morph on the upper torso.
Then the arms and legs came as an afterthought when looking at the butterfly image and that is where I added another figure for the arms and legs. I hid the burlap doll arms and used poke away to get the skinny arms and feet on the added figure.

I know this is not the best method. This is why I am looking for input. Wish I could model!

I am wondering if it is possible to create a figure and try to rig it like it was a long skirt except that it would have the closed butterfly body shape. Of course, this would require me being able to get the transfer utility to work. This has been 50-50 hit and miss on different occasions.

I have found an antennae/feeler prop. I was really hoping for an ear morph, but then might have to get someone to actually make a product...

Also wondering if anyone has thoughts on using the Four Arms geografted figure as a possible way of giving the butterfly it's arms and 'legs' though it would be four arms.

    Something more like this?

(it's only partially rigged and the 'legs' are just placeholders)

I was trying out some more ideas
Here I used Snow Jack's snowball body which I shaped, exported/imported and then used the transfer utility as a loose bodysuit... of course it comes with the usual issues of doing something like this
And I included the four arms figure to see how it would look
I just cannot use the poke away tool on the second set of arms so they pretty much have to stay normal size using this idea
