Help with Glowing, and Eyes Glowing??

So, I got the product http://www.daz3d.com/da-glowing-eyes

I was hoping to figure out how to get the same glow effect onto other surfaces, such as a necklace gem (to show possession of the magic in the gem, for example)

However if i try to apply the material/shader to the gem, both things stop glowing.

If i change the group ID on the gem, the eyes will glow again. If they are the same ID, neither will glow. If I change just the eyes ID none will glow. If I change both none will glow.

I'd send Design Anvil a message, but message search for their name found nothing. :(

How can I apply this glow to other additional surfaces? I keep thinking things like, glowing jewelry, glowing wand, glowing fingertips, glowing crystals...... etc.....

I love the glowing eyes but I don't want to stop there :) And the new shaders really really confuse the heck out of me!

Thanks to anyone who can help :D

Eh.... if I'm understand right, the ambient channel is giving a glow when the surround skin (the face) has the new SS applied... :( Not what I was hoping.

how the heck does one apply a shader to a surface to make glow?

With the uberarea light found in Light Presets/omnifreaker. Be sure you ramp the insensitivity way up (like 3000) and that you raise samples (think thats the one) till you loose the graininess from the render.

    Hi belovedalia,

I made the DA Glowing Eyes product and Design Anvil is the name of my Design Studio. Confusing I know.

Okay If you want to copy a Glow from the eyes to another item in your scene heres what you'll need to do.

1 Select the surfaces of the items you want to add the glow to, then apply the AOA Subsurface shader to the item.

2 Apply a Glowing eye preset to a compatible figure and select one of the eye surfaces and copy the selected Surface.

3 Now on the item you want to add the glow to, select the surface that you want to glow and paste the glow.

4 Now select all of the surfaces on that item and change the Group ID to a unique number.

5 The last step is to Dial Subsurface to ON and Subsurface Strength to around 100 percent for all of the surfaces on the item.

Now both the eyes and item should have a glow when rendered!

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll be happy to help. :)

    Very interesting,

I have been wanting to do the Poser render below in DS, and now it looks as though you may well have given me the means to do so!

    Thank you!

    CHEERS!
