Post Denoiser Denoise Alpha...Come Again?

I am trying to remove some grainy aspects of a render so I turned on the new Denoiser. A set of 4 options appear, so I turned Available on, Enable on and left the iterations at 8 but what is the"Post Denoiser Denoise Alpha" supposed to do? Should it be on or off? I am turning it on to test it but I would really like to know what it does if it is on or off?

The alpha is the transparency mask, which you get in PNG or Tiff and which, as far as I know, is used to composite the render with the background if you export a non-masked format. Whether you want it on or not, if you are exporting in a format with a mask, may vary from render to render - having it on may cause unwanted aretefacts (fringing or haloes, perhaps) in some cases.
Once again I drink from you're well, an Oasis in the vast desert that I find myself lost and abandoned in. Thank you.
The Alpha algorithm used to be part of the main denoiser, and ran whether you needed it or not. Where it added an extra workload to the processing.
Now you have the choice to turn it on only when you need it.
