The disappearing act

So now I have my first animation done. 19 sec. But now I want to be able to make a treasure chest disappear or a person even. Using aniblocks I thought I could just turn them invisible, but it only turns the person (not her armor) invisible. Do I have to render the scene and then create a new one with her or the chest not in it and render that one in order to accomplish this feat? I am so ready to do more animation.

Depends on how much editing/compositing you want to do with the finished product...
So it would need to be done in post production?
Not necessarily, but I'm thinking it may be easier to do it in post...
One option I remember seeing discussed a while ago in the old forums; at the moment of "disappearance" set a couple of keyframes and shrink the object down to a ridiculously small scale e.g. 0.1% over a span of one or two frames. If you're doing this to a figure with clothes, then the clothes should pick up the same scaling and vanish at the same time.
Well, all those work. But there is a way to create ON and OFF aniblocks. I don't think they work on clothing though. What you could do is Save the animation out, then render to FRAMES to the Frame you need the clothing to Disappear, turn the Clothing OFF to the render engine and Render those frames out. Then use a editor to assemble the frames to a animation. I always render to frames as it gives much better control and if something needs fixed you only need to render the fixed frames again.
That sounds like some next level ish. I'm gonna have my friend reexplain what you just said Jaderail. He's really good at the re explaining stuff. I get the base of it, I guess I'm just upset that there isn't a quick inviso button. Thanks
