I don't really have a use for a chess set but I'm intrigued by this....are the shader presets specifically for the chess set only, or can they be used on anything?

The last promo shows them being used on other items.

Glass Gambit, Fancy a Game of Chess, & Your Move Poses -- wasn't there supposed to be a bundle? No, or is it just not up yet?

Shader Presets can be applied to any surface*. That is the biggest difference between a shader preset and a material(s) preset. Material(s) Presets apply to specific surface(s) and depend on those surface(s) to be named correctly. A Shader Preset will apply to any surface that is selected.

*Just because a Shader Preset can be applied to any surface, that doesn't mean that it will always look great. If the person who set up the preset included UV specific image maps then you will probably get seams if you apply to preset to any surface other than the one that the preset was designed for. In an instance like this the hypothetical content creator should have used a Material(s) Preset instead of a Shader Preset.

These can go on anything within reason. As always it depends on the mesh and how it was originally constructed if it will work well or not. No textures involved in this one so no unseemly seam issues.

wasn’t there supposed to be a bundle? No, or is it just not up yet?

There probably should have been a bundle but as far as I know one was not set up for these.

Pity, they so clearly go together. Well, there's a $6 coupon on carts over $30 right now, and these all total $30.71, so that'll have to do. Thanks!

I would like to know, why the shadows of the glasses in the last promo not in the same colors as the shaded glasses. All glasses have a white-transparent shadow there.

Getting properly colored shadows would involve a shader mixer set up that uses (if I recall correctly) caustics and maybe something else. I really wanted these to be as fast and easy as possible for people to work with. To be totally honest the added shader presets sort of grew out of my inability to stop making them when I thought of another color or in the case of the mixed colors just something that would be cool to have. And then I realized people would need a clear understanding of what you needed to get good renders with glass and an easy/simple 360 to help with that.

Getting bright spots in the shadows would require caustics (in the surface shader, camera and lights) but simple coloured shadows can be achieved by making the opacity colour the inverse of the diffuse colour.
