Issues rendering

It appears that DAZ 4.12 keeps switching to CPU for Iray rendering even though I have my nvidia card selected and the CPU deselected in the advanced tab under photoreal devices.  After several restarts it finally started using the GPU instead.  Not sure what is causing this.

  • Which driver are you using (right-click on desktop>NVidia Control Panel)? Which version of Ds (Help>About Daz Studio)? What card? How big is the scene?

  • Daz 4.12, GTX-1050, Driver version 436.30 (just installed it yesterday)  After doing a few renders it drops back to using the cpu again until I close out and reload it.

  • If it does a few renders and then stops it sounds like a transient issue - maybe memory is running down or is marginal (once memory runs ot it does need a restart to clear it).

The 1050 only has 2Gb of VRAM. Sometimes the VRAM used by iray for a render is not rerleased until DS closes. You will likely need to close and restart DS after every render to. If you want to render a lot of scenes get the Render Queue, for sale here, and set all of the scenes to render overnight, it closes and relaunches DS after every scene renders.
