Auto Face Enhancer

So, Auto Face Enhancer.  I really wanted to like this product because Daz could use something like it, but I can't.  It. Does. Too. Much.  Everytime I try to use it, I take a look at how much it changes the character's face and then remove all trace of it.

So I'm working on a scene, and something like AFE would be really handy.  I try it on a character with, to start, a 60% open-faced smile.

Quick "before" spot render. It's a WIP, so yeah, hair, lighting, etc, not done but still, the model looks to be of a pleasant-looking woman around 30, give or take.

Then I slap on AFE, and this happens

So now she's in her what?  Late 40s?  Perhaps a bit younger if she has/had a substance abuse problem?  The skin can be fixed, but after looking at this, I didn't want to make the effort and got rid of AFE right quick.

Daz could use something like this, but I'm not sure it's this.  I've seen a post where someone thought AFE was awesomesauce, but even there, the aging was really apparent.  If I want an older character, I'll choose an older character or use some Zev0 wizardry, but when I'm trying to fix an expression, all I want to do is fix the expression.

No, she still looks the same age and to be the same model in my eyes. However, her expression has changed. I think the ideal is that you apply AFE 1st & then create the expression. At any rate, that character reminds me of the actress wearing a straightjacket in the totally bizarre and scary music video by The Cars called "Drive". laugh

Distorted muscles and wrinkled skin are expected and realistic for people when their face is showing an emotion. Look at these baby pictures from a google search (2nd is labeled for reuse no restrictions aka CC0 but both show up in Google searches not the top). Those are the sort of pictures with authentic emotions that a 3D digital sculptor is going to use in imitating an emotion. If they use pictures of actors feigning a smile or actors feigning a laugh then they've made a mistake.

By the way, D.Master is working on changing AFE for G8F to using subD4 instead of a geoshell so it'll work better. They are also working on a AFE for G8M. So the product will get better and be easier to use too.

I've had it with this product.  It's a PITA even when I'm not using it.  I was loading a scene, which has crashed on me 3 times for no reason I can figure out, when I get the following message popping up after loading once a scene subset, and then a scene.

I didn't use this product in this scene, and haven't touched it for weeks, and still it haunts me.   Shoulda refunded it when I had the chance.  I put a ticket, and I hope it will get fixed eventually.

Edit: Heh.  I uninstalled it through DIM, which is how I installed it, and it's still there.  Now I'm taking a blowtorch to it.

Old thread, but please let me know how to take a blowtorch to this [] product!!! Like a bad rash it has come back twice without me doing anything to enable it and messed up my characters.

It just reappeared again, 30 minutes after my last post! I'd uninstalled Auto Face Enhancer from Daz Central, loaded a new figure, applied a few expressions, and on about the fourth expression it automatically started applying these hideous Auto Face Enhancers. I have to get rid of this thing!

How did you initially install? Are you working with Daz Studio on line?
