Iray No Light Render?

I know this is an odd question. But what if I wanted to just render a character (to view detail) without any lights. Basically, a better version of the Perspective View. No lights, no shadow. Is this possible?

Playing around with the settings I eather get an all-black silhouette or a light source.

You can't render without lights. Iray is a Physically Based Render engine.

The perspective view has lights included, either the default HDRI or the Preview lights.

What you may not realize is that, even without light objects added, the viewport still uses lights to display your scene.

Here's what Iray viewport mode looks like with no scene lights, no camera headlamp and lighting set to scene only:

Oso Toon provides a way to have flat color images.

The shader has a switch to route diffuse color to emission color so that the surfaces glow slightly.

Skydomes will still render in Iray.  You could custom make a grad to map suit your needs.
