Hand Poses and Zeroes

Trying to save a Zero hand pose, but can't seem to get there, in DS 4.11

To start, I tried selecting a G8 figure hand, and choosing Edit>Object>zero selected items pose. That only zeroed the hand and not the fingers.

So I manually zeroed each segment of each finger and the thumb, then I tried saving that as a pose preset, choosing the hand and all the nodes below it, and the pose controls for the left hand. But when I make a change to the hand, then apply the pose, nothing at all happens. Done this dozens of times in Poser, what am I missing?
