Organizing file names

How do you organize your daz scene files so that it is easy to find them again lateR?

In my case, I tend to render scenes in one of five categories, so I have root folders under Scenes for these:

    1. Conall and Simi
    2. Degataga and Neko
    3. Commissions
    4. General Artwork
    5. Testing

Then, I tend to name the files with something descriptive, often based off the title of the image, along with the date that I created it. For instance, I named the scene file for my Discarded image: "Discarded_20190817.duf"

If I'm doing test renders for learning purposes, I might name them based on what I'm testing. Like for my Sloshwerk's ColorWerks Extreme review, I named it "CWX-Test_20190910.duf"

I find that putting the timestamp in the file name (not just relying on the date/time stamp on the file) helps me find things more quickly. I may be able to remember "I was working on that in August of this year" even if I can't remember exactly what the scene file was called.

That very much depends on how you're saving them. I've always used the "+" button at the bottom of the Content Library tab, as by definition it saves into whichever content folder the tab is showing. Many people never seem to have heard of this, though, and always use the File>Save menu at the top. The disadvantage of this method is that you frequently have to navigate manually to a location in your content folder. There seems to be another save method in Smart Content, which I never use; this one IMHO has the most problems, since the actual location of your saved file goes into the content database, and if you're not familiar with how the database works, it's possible to lose track of it.
