I have been taking a look at platinum club $1.99 items and have discovered that there is treasure trove of things on offer from way back. Much of this is V3 based, and right now i ma concentrating my purchases on G2, because i like it and because i want to try and stick with one figure. Is there any way that content originally created for V3 and other older figures can be adapted for use with G2. Seems to me there is a lot of potential revenue back there being ignored.

Not to my knowledge. GenX is supposedly being updated so who knows if you can in the future

Clothing or morphs? You can autofit 3rd Generation clothing to Genesis1 if you have the corresponding Iconic Shapes, then autofit that to G2.

This is fast getting way out of my pay scale. I recall that maybe i had auto fit way back but have not had any reason to use it for so long i have forgotten where it is, if i still have it, or how to call it up to use it. If i understand you correctly, i can auto fit Gen 3 items to G1 and then to G2, if i can figure out how to get hold of auto fit...
This is actually the solution i think, once my addled brain gets to grips with things..
Any further help would be appreciated

And of course if it is things like add on textures sets for something like the MFD, well the MFD has been released for all the major female figures, including Genesis, and the textures do work on all the versions, with the one exception of the Steph petite MFD, which is mapped differently.

Autofit is part of the main DAZ Studio install, and has been free with DS for some time now.

To 'invoke' Autofit, select Genesis in the Scene pane or Viewport, and apply the Gen3 clothing in the same way as you normally would. Autofit will pop up and ask what figure the original clothing was made for, and the clothing type. That is all there is to it, Autofit is automatic.

You will only have the Gen3 clones for autofit, if you bought the Gen3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis, only V4, M4 and K4 come with it as standard.

Well i am plodding along here, i realised that i had auto fit with DS4 and that i had been using it for some time, so thats sorted. Now on to the clothes. Firstly when i try and load V3 clothes onto G1 and the auto fit box appears, there is no option for anything prior to V4. This means, i think that, and in practice its the case, V3 does not fit to G1 using the auto fit. Can you please explain if you are saying that by purchasing G3 iconic shapes for Genesis i can load V3 onto G1 using auto fit. If that is the case can i then somehow load V3 clothes onto G2.

This is what you need : http://www.daz3d.com/gen-3-iconic-shapes-for-genesis

On the Product Page it says :

Oh... and because the clone shapes are included, you will be able to "auto-fit" your favorite Generation 3 clothing. DAZ-tastic!

If you only want to use V3 and M3 clothing, you could use this: http://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis It works out a bit cheaper.

As I said earlier, Autofit only comes with V4, M4 and K4 clones, to get the extra clone shapes, you need these Iconic Shapes. Once you have one or other of the above, Gen 3 clothing will fit to Genesis (original). You can then save that, and use Autofit again to load the Genesis 1 and Autofit to Genesis 2 (the Genesis 1 clone comes free with Autofit).

    Does that help?

Well so far so good, thank you. As you can see from the screen shot i managed to do everything to fit V3 clothing onto G1 with autofit, which is almost what i wanted. The next step is saving and converting to G2. Exactly how i do that is a bit of a stretch for me i am afraid. Any instructions would be appreciated....

David, I tried this myself, and I saved the clothing for V3 which was Autofit to Genesis, by using File > Save As > Wearable(s) Preset, and saving it into the Genesis folder (you don't need to do that, but it makes it easier to find again)

Load Genesis 2, double click on your saved Wearable Preset (.DUF) to load it, and Autofit will pop up. Select Genesis as the Figure the item was made for (since it has been changed), select the item type, and Autofit will fit it to Genesis 2 using the Genesis clone (comes with it).

You can then save that as a Wearable asset too, and keep it in the Genesis 2 folder.

I am not certain that this is the recommended way, but it works for me.

The delay in replying is because i had to go out and deliver a birthday present to my granddaughter who is six today. This is actually rather like a present for me Jimmy, because the whole thing has worked exactly as you said. I am most grateful to you, many many thanks.....
