Re organization

I've found a few threads on this topic but they all seem very confusing. I have been copy/pasting the runtime, data, content folders etc. into My Library folder. But somehow I have 3 content folders and 3 library folders as well. How can I combine them?

Also I want to create my own category folders and put items I use all the time in those for faster access instead of trying to remember 10 different folders and subfolders and click down through them all trying to find an item. How do I do that?

  • You shouldn't usually have a "content" folder inside the content directory anyway. Are the duplicates nested, or are they entirely separate? The latter is not an issue, but if you want you can just merge them.

The key folder names to look for when extracting or moving content are "Runtime" and/or "data".  Thoses are the top level folders that should appear just below the folder defined/mapped as your library.   All Poser format files an folder are under "Runtime" folder.  DAZ Studio format files and folders may be at the same level as the "data" folder.

Best to create your own system with all the items you use, parallel to the somewhat impenetrable system DAZ sets up for itself:

Thanks for the link to the tutorial that should be very useful. It really is insanely frustrating trying to find things, especially when there are like 4 'people' folders buried in various places instead of having all characters in one place and things like that.

  • So how do I just move existing folders around? For example:

Right now under "My Daz3D Library" there is a folder called 'content' and inside of that are 'people' 'props' and 'environments' folders. I would like to merge all of those with the the 'people' 'props' and 'environments' folders which already exist in the main tree under the DAZ3D Library.

  • In addition to that content folder there is ALSO another folder called 'my library' and it ALSO contains people, props, environment folders etc. so this is really annoying

  • You can't move the folders inside DAZ|Studio. Open an Explorer window (or the equivalent whateveritscalled on a Mac) and click down through the folder levels until you reach the "My Daz3D Library" and see the folders inside that.
