Why ARE DOWNLOADS AT KB/s SPEEDS?

trying to get purchases as usual and the speeds are what you'd EXPECT FROM AOL DIAL UP.

who's the tech that maintained the servers because they screwed the pooch. 27mb dl should NOT take 5 minutes+

Everyone is downloading the latest version of Daz Studio (4.12) so servers are hammered....

  •  the 4.12 dl was at normal speeds.

its the product servers which are running like they are 1970's servers on dial up

  • Data moving on the web is not as simple as connecting directly to another computer. A slow download could be load on the server with the data, or some other issue at that end, or an issue at any of the routers between your computer and that one. Particularly when no one else is reporting such an issue the problem is rarely at the server hosting the data.

  • funny that hours later the slow was not there until I retried the file greater than 1gb and POOF! out comes the snail pace qagain and every other file since is going like snot down your face.

this is not my end downloaded from another several sites at as much as 80mb/s and having been around the internet to actually be able to reference AOL kind of means I know about nodes and jump points would you like me to trace back to your server and remove all doubt about who's running slow?

  • now I'm just getting pissed off stupid thing runs dead slow for nearly an hour barely get 30% of the file and then it craps out with network error this is not the first attempt which only makes it worse

  • I don't work for Daz.

What you are describing sounds a lot like your ISP is throttling your downloads. Are you on a metered connection? What ISP is it anyway? Since literally no one else is having this issue it sounds exactly like a problem somewhere other than Daz's servers.

I am thinking that the existence of a free item being offered upon installing the Version 4.12 software was what sparked the problems.  That, or the newly added Face Transfer feature may have made the product overwhelming to a lot of people, and caused everybody to log in simultaneously, and causing these intermittent crashes.  Thank goodness I downloaded and installed my copy of the 4.12 while I did, if done so manually.

Though I have to admit, the Face Transfer tool would come in handy when it comes to creating celebirty faces.

I have a feeling that the number of people downloading the new update will go down by the weekend.  I bet a lot of people have the new update by now, though a lot more will be downloading it in the coming hours.  It seems as if this newest version is perhaps the most overwhelming version to ever exist.
