OT Anyone else having Firefox issues?

Some web sites lately have been sloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwww to load, Daz included. I've done an internet speed test, and my speed is phenomenally great. But many sites take 15-30 seconds to load, and then sometimes they don't even load completely. I tried the same sites in Chrome and IE, and they seemed fine. Is it just Firefox, or what?

I'm using Firefox 26.0

Yeah, I've had similar behavior for some time now. I'm not sure when it started, but it was before version 26.

Do you happen to run Avast as your AV?

Bingo. Does it slow things down? I've only had this problem for about, oh, maybe two weeks, and I've had avast for a while.

I use Avast and FF, but have no noticeable slowdown. But I am still on FF22. I rolled back to 22 when 23 stopped me using certain sites properly, and have not allowed it to update since.

FF 26.0 on a Mac and no speed issues at all.

I just disabled the avast online security adviser for FF, but it made no difference. Was there perhaps an update to avast recently that's causing the slowdown, because like I said, I've only been having this issue for a couple weeks, maybe not even that long. Maybe I'll roll back avast, if that is possible, and see if it improves.

The problems with Avast and FF are specific to 25 and 26 and some of the latest Avast updates...so, I don't expect 22 + Avast or FF on a Mac to have the slowness.

Since it's been a couple of weeks, try to see if you can force an update of the core for Avast (not the definitions).

I'll try that. In the meantime I may just have to use Chrome, it loaded daz3d.com lickety split--I was waiting for it to load in FF for about 15 seconds, so I opened Chrome, typed the address in the bar, and it still beat FF even with it's big headstart.

And if all that isn't irritating enough, Daz logged me out in the middle of all this. :)

Seems that I get logged out here between 9:30 A and 11:00 A (eastern) everyday...must be a server/cookie thing that expires them regularly.

But, yeah, what I've been able to find indicates it's just FF affected and Avast seems to be the primary culprit, but a couple of other AVs have been implicated, too.

Tried to update Avast, it says I'm already up-to-date. I guess I'll just live with it, or use Chrome until something changes.

It's hard to get used to another browser, though, not to mention not having all my bookmarks.

...Join Us... ;) Chrome is nice. Chrome is good!

More seriously, I switched to Chrome years ago, and never looked back. (I switched to FF from Mozilla when Mozilla got too bloated, and I switched to Chrome when FF got too bloated. So far Chrome's stayed nice and slickly fast.)

You can get your bookmarks moved over, IIRC, but sometimes it's nice to lose 10-15 years of crufty bookmarks and start over again. :)
