Daz Connect Library Questions

Hi,

I have run into an odd issue and think I know perhaps why it is happening, but I don't know how to fix it.

Sometime in the past I had a G3F char after purchase that was only available on the DAZ Connect option. I had never used it, but setup the connection and got that folder in my library. Since then I now seem to have several of my G3F character purchases downloaded to both my normal library and also to the DAZ Connect library. I didn't care so much until today when I wanted to change a texture on one of the characters that have both library locations.

Starting in the Surfaces tab I selected the texture and found it in the DAZ connect folder. Once opened to that folder I made a copy of the texture for a backup and intended to modify the original - which didn't work. After doing a forum search this seems like the normal state so that updates on the connect file don't overwrite your changes. That makes sense so I go to the normal library location and make a backup copy of the texture and edit the original there. In the Surfaces tab I change the location of the texture to be my normal library, see my change loads into the workspace, render, save, and exit DAZ.

An hour later I open DAZ back up and blink because I know I saved my scene but the modified texture is not there. I check the Surfaces tab and find that even though I explicitly saved my texture to be the one in the non-Connect folder it has defaulted back to the Daz Connect folder location.

Is this due to me having two locations for the same character? Can I not save the same named file in a differnt folder and use it if I have a connect-based texture? And if this requires me to get back to only one library version of the character how do I remove the Connect version?

thanks in advance for any help and guidance.

If it is installed with both Connect and DIM, Daz Studio will use the Connect version. Connect will not use any changes you make to files in in the Connect data folder. Right click on the product thumbnail in Daz Studio and select Uninstall to remove the Connect version. You may need to restart Daz Studio to make it see the DIM version. You might even have to update metadata or uninstall and reinstall from DIM, too, to get everything working with the DIM version.
  • Thanks barbult that worked. I use the Content Library tab and my setup doesn't show the Products so it took a bit to find it in my layout. But once I uninstalled my scene automatically went and found the textures in my regular library.

    thanks for your assistance!
