That sounds to me like a failed scene file. They should stay OFF in render. Try loading the file Turning them on again, SAVE as new scene File then TURN off again and SAVE as NEW (Diff name) Scene file. It that still fails just turn them OFF with the Opacity setting in the Surfaces Tab.

is there a render hidden objects option in Daz? (I know there is in carrara and iClone, not on my PC at moment)

Ok thank you both for the quick response .. P.S. I ended up going into surfaces and turning the opacity to zero..on feet ,toes and toenails
The new AoA SSS shaders don't obey the visibility switch.
