Render image different from view port

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me why the viewport image is dramatically differnt from the rendered one ( viewport on the lfet and render on the right)?

I am using iray sky and dome with no additional lights.

Thanks

Because the viewport shows an OpenGL preview, not an IRay render.

The previews in in Iray mode.

It's probably down to differences between Draw Settings (control the preview) and Render Settings (control the render).

  • Thanks Ascaia and Richard! I will muck about with the render settings and see if I can get it to match the viewport.

If you want a close match to the OpenGL viewport, why not just change the render engine from Iray to OpenGL? Or just screenshot the veiwport. If you want the realism of Iray, it will never match the OpenGL viewport. You could however change the viewport preview to Iray Photoreal, so you can preview what your render will look like, but the viewport will be much less responsive while setting up a scene or posing a character.

  • Keep in mind that the preview window of the render is not a perfect representation of the image. You should save the render and then open the image in something and see how it looks.
