So I've noticed the 'search' bar at the top of the content pane doesn't do what I wish it would - find content. Is there a special way to use this? I find it pretty frustrating when it takes up to 10 minutes to locate content which I have just installed for the first time sometimes, it seems like I ought to be able to type the name of the content in here and have it pop up...

How are you installing? DIM or Connect will, by default, put new items in the New group and you can then use group::new in the Smart Content filter box. otherwise, what I used to do was install to a separate content directory and move to the main content directory only once I'd played with the content and decided I wanted to keep it installed.
A lot of the content I have doesn't work with DIM so I just select the folders and copy them to the My DAZ 3D Library folder.
How do you do that, installing into a separate content directory?
So is it correct that the 'search' function just doesn't work at all?
That won't be added to the database, though soem may have metadata that you can import. Otherwise you can categroise and create products by right-click menus in the Content Library pane.
Just install to the alternatvi directory and add it to the list of content directories in DS - you can do that quickly by going to the Content Library pane and right-clicking on the Daz Studio Formats/Poser Formats heading.
It depends which search - the one in the Content Library pane is a basic search by filename, but works on everything in the content directories; the search in the Samrt Content pane has a lot more options, but works only on content that has been added to the database.
