Does anyone know how to use this? (Wrinkled Soles)

I have this material or map or whatever it's called and I'm not sure how to apply it. It didn't come with a ReadMe file and I'm just sort of guessing and getting no where.

  • So it says it comes with materials presets. Did you try selecting your figure and doubleclicking one of the presets? It should load the displacement map into the displacement strength channel. The effect should be visible when rendered. Or you could go to the surface tab, feet, displacement strength and load the map manually, then adjust the strength value to get the desired effect. With IRay you probably need to up the figure SubD level to 2-4.

Yes I hoped it would be the easiest way first but I didn't see any difference after rendering. When you say manually, you mean go to surfaces then legs right? I don't see a individual location for feet

Yeah sorry:) Probably legs. I don't use G8 so was kind of guessing:)

Did you check the legs displacement after doubleclicking the preset, to see if the displ. map was loaded? Maybe you just need to add strength?

Hmmm, still doesn't seem to work. Thank you for the tip though. I appreciate you giving it a shot.

Hmm, if the map is properly made it should just work if:

    • the map is loaded into displacement strength for the proper surface zone
    • displacement strength is more than 0 (try 100 or more)
    • displacement min and max is set to -1 and 1(I think -0.1 and 0.1 are the defaults, basically that should be enough with strength at 100%)
    • Figure mesh resolution is set to high
    • SubD render level is something between 1 and 4

Thanks again Sven, I'll try that!

My bad, I thought it came with the dirty feet option.

You'll want to have your charecter selected and then double click on "Wrinkled Feet 1-4", 4 has most wrinkles, Then select Detail Level, then select Resolution Level. Wrinkles will show up in Rendering. It'll actually work with both male and female even though it's installed under female.
