4.12 listed as installed in DIM, but still opening 4.10

I'm kinda unsure about this - in the installed tab of my DAZ Install Manager it lists 4.12 with an install date of 11/15/17 and a 607.5 MB file size.

In the Ready to Download tab under product updates, it lists 4.12 with a 682.1 MB file size.

When I open about DAZ Studio in the Help tab within DAZ Studio, it reads 4.10*** (didn't note down the exact version).

Is my desktop icon just linked to the older version, and 4.12 is just sitting unused on my boot drive somewhere?

I'm running Win7 Pro, is 4.10 just the highest version that runs on my OS? My machine is only 3 years old, I just prefer Win7.

If I do install 4.12 is it just an update to 4.10, or will I need to copy or link all the content that's in My DAZ 3D Library to a new location? I already have content trees going back to Poser 4 spread over 4 drives. I spend most of my time looking for content...

I would say that DIM installed a new version of DS4 (check you install folders in DIM). And the shortcut still point to your DS4.10 version.

All my DIM install are in a working folder and then I copy all files to my DS4 "official folder". All my preference (libraries, menus,....) are kept

Your desktop icon is likely linked to 4.10 version; installation does not overwrite the old version. You can run both versions at the same time. Delete the shortcut and create a new one from the new 4.12 version.

My DIM tells me that 4.12 is installed as well,  but I know I didn't.  I only installed the 4.12 Beta.  My 4.11 works as it should.

I'm going to download and install the update for 4.12 and keep track of where it installs, make a shortcut for the new version. Thanks for the quick replies!

  • DIM will shpow oly only the name on the Daz server while it is connected - if you logged off it would revert to showing the original name of the installed package, instead of 4.12, for the one in the Installed tab.
