trouble replacing character

I want to put  a new character in the same place and pose as another one, to switch them out. I tried saving char. 1 as a pose preset, and applying it to char. 2. This does the pose but not the position.What was really surprising is that I thought I could at least manually do it by writing down all the x y and z coordinates of char. 1 and apply them to char. 2 but this also puts char. 2 in a totally different location. Must be something about this I don't understand...what's the right way to do this?

If I recall correctly, there are a number of options you can select/de-select for what you want saved in a pose preset when saving a character's pose. I have a render running at the moment, so I can't check to make sure, but it sounds like when you saved the pose, you didn't save the position data in it.

If they both belong to the same generation just load the new characther onto the first one when posed.
Select yout characther then choose the Figure tab-Load the characther onto the first one when asked!
