House cat altered texture - need help with installing for render

I am trying to make the cat look like.. well our family cat. I am stuck on location to browse for altered texture. What is the directory or do you have to add it in the program? I was hoping to create a scene with the cat model - add in my personal texture and then keep all the original textures as is within the program. Can someone please send a link or explain the process.

You can put the textures anywhere, though if the location is not in a content directory then the files will refer to them by their absolute path so you will get errors if you use on a different machine. You load the alternative maps by opening the Surfaces pane, selecting the fur surface(s) - I can't recall what the cat has - and clicking the micro-thumbnail next tot he base colour, then selecting Browse and choosing your image file.
