Hi!
I'm kind of desperate for help.
I recently purchased a powerful new computer for the purpose of creating digital art but the people who built the PC had the brilliant idea to put nearly all my hard drive space on the D drive; I can't fit as much content on my new C drive as I could on my old computer.
I looked for videos on Youtube and topics on this forum for help but I'm still struggling. I am completely useless when it comes to how computers work.
I uninstalled and deleted every mention of Daz on my computer, then reinstalled and tried to install to the drive (by changing the directory in the recently reinstalled install manager).
When I open Daz, I get the following error:
A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. Several Daz Studio features that require a valid PostgreSQL CMS connection, such as context aware content views and loading content installed using the Daz Connect service, will not be available. Check your network, anti-virus, and firewall settings for conflicts.
The product I installed as a test to see if I had done things properly does show in the file I created on the D drive...but it doesn't show up in Daz. In fact, nothing shows up in Daz. No content at all.
I have the AVG anti-virus software, but I don't recall the program giving me issues before (when it comes to Daz Studio, anyway).
Somebody help?!
Thanks in advance!

It's possible to install the DAZ Studio PROGRAM onto the C drive and the CONTENT LIIBRARY of your assets onto the D drive. In fact that is probably recommended as the PROGRAM has scripts and code and such that interact with the computer operating system.
As for your PostgreSQL error, when you re-installed DAZ Studio did you remember to re-install the PostgreSQL CMS? That controls the database that keeps track of all of your content.
Hopefully somebody with a bertter ability to explain will be along to help out.
I have almost everything content-wise on an external HD. I have all of 325mb in my Documents folder where the DAZ 3D folder is. 225gb on my external drive with the content.
I just did this a few days ago in fact. If you install onto D:, & set the paths accordingly, there will still be a PostgreSQL CMS installed onto C: AND to your D: location. Both are needed.
When you get the error though, are you seeing a yellow Start CMS button at the bottom of the Left most panel? If not, tap F2 and look at the CMS tab in the Preferences. Confirm it's pointing to where you actually have the CMS & if not correct the path. If it is correct, try changing the Port setting, up or down from where it is.
I've noticed that after I install new content, the CMS sometimes forgets, but usually the Start CMS does the trick.
Good luck.
Thank you so much for your help! :D
One more question?
I managed to get PostGreSQL CMS working--well...it says it's working--and the icons for downloaded content appears in my render library (the circle with the down arrow indicating that the items need to be downloaded doesn't appear on the icon) but when I try to load content...it says that it's not installed.
When I say "skip", all I get are bounding boxes (no model, no textures).
I created a file on the D drive called "Daz Content", told the DIM to install items there, created a "new content set" in the Content Directory Manager within Daz Studio, and set the new directory to search for files in the D drive Daz Content folder.
Am I doing something wrong? Does the content folder I created need a specific name (like runtime)?
Have you downloaded/copied over all your content?
No, just the default Daz resources and the Daz Dog 8 (as a test). I didn't see the point in transferring everything until I knew that I was doing things properly.
Did your scene include anything besides the basic resources and Dog 8?
No, just the Dog 8.
No matter what I open, I get the “product is not installed” message.
I put the DIM in my D drive (not in the Daz Content file, of course). Was that a bad decision?
You just copied the animals -> Daz Dog8 folder? Not the textures and all the rest?
I installed the Daz Dog directly to the D drive using the install manager.
You don't need to create a new content set, in fact that may be your problem if you have not switched to it. In the Content Library pane wsimply right click on DAZStudio Formats to add the new path to you content.
Oh, my! You're all my heroes--thank you. I figured it out! HA!
Thank you again for all of your help! I'm so grateful! :D
