Daz Studio 4.11 freezes during rendering

So, here's a render that I made a while back:

image

(They're both F.B.I. agents and, in two previous renders I made, the woman - Erica, was kidnapped by terrorists but managed to break free and get ahold of a gun; which she used to attempt to fight her way out.  Meanwhile, the man - Jared, came across her fallen shoes outside and overheard the commotion.  So in this render, Jared is coming to Erica's rescue, after she was knocked down and nearly recaptured - or possibly killed.)

I've been attempting to re-create this render, with some improvements.  Specifically, an improved pose for Jared and a more realistic foot morph for Erica.  But when I try rendering the scene, the program freezes after approximately 4 minutes.  The cursor doesn't move, the task manager doesn't appear when I try Ctrl-Alt-Delete, nothing responds except my computer's reset button.  I've had the same problem happen, when making this other render, with the subject having certain hairstyles, but eventually got that one to work - with the aforementioned foot morph that I intended to give Erica in the first render.

For that reason, I've tried rendering Jared alone or Erica alone and the program works fine.  But when I try rendering them together - with or without the background, I get the freeze.  I don't get it.  If I've rendered that same scene before with no problems, then why would I have problems with it now?

  • How long have you left the frozen computer? My ssytem can become pretty unersponsive during an Iray render that is suing the GPU, though not usually to the point that it seems frozen.

Around an hour, since that's approximately how long my rendering takes, if all goes well.

I did eventually manage to render that first scene today though, by making two different renders (each with one of the two characters) and using Paint to combine them.  There might be some minor shadow issues, but otherwise, that seems to have solved the problem with that particular scene.  (Although I can only bring myself to watch a Forensic Files marathon or play Sea of Thieves for so long, while waiting for a render to finish.)
