Is there a setting that would usually be defaulted on in prior version that is defaulkted off for rendering iray in 4.12? Ive been rendering a scene in iray that I have rendered before with the same characters in it just different scenario than before. and it's been over 20 minutes now and still says 0%. Usually the whole would have been rendered in less than 20 minutes in the last version. And I read from the info email I got that this new version has something to reduce render times, but I havent seen any mention of it and how to activate it. What is this new feature and how do I use it? I got a pretty good system here. intel i7 processor and the nvidia geforce gtx 1080ti card in it

Sounds to me like the scene was rendering with the CPU and not GPU.
Have you updated your graphic card drivers recently? 4.12 requires fairly recent drivers to use the GPU.
Do you still have your old scene files? Rendering one of those instead of a different one would provide a better comparison.
Unfortunatly a lot of my old stuff didn't transer over during the switch to 4.12. but several used this same environment which I always have loaded the ready to render iray version, so there shouldn't be anything different, only the two girls are set up differently in this one. And I did update my drivers, now after an hour im at 76% whereas earlier I was at 1%. But this is still way off from what it was using the same environment, and settings as I did in the last version, although I think my previous was the 4.10 version. And least I think it's the same settings.
