The V4 version is dynamic; the Genesis version is conforming. DO NOT use autofit; all those tails have individual bones that will go missing if you do.

is it possible to stop autofit? thought it was automatic
You can cancel when it asks what figure the item was made for. If you use the genesis dress with genesis it'll be fine, but if you try to put it on g2,3, or 8 it'll try to autofit. (Wonder if it could be converted to Dforce and fitted with a clone...)
I did ... something with it to make it fit up to G2 just about two years ago. Unfortunately, I seem to have assumed that I'd remember what I did, and so didn't write it up properly. I think that I used Transfer Utility, clones, and told it to retain bones on the morphs option, but I'm not sure. (I did note that dForce made it explode a lot, but the body it was being fitted to was very very nonstandard, so it may be OK on a regular female character. Relatedly, I didn't realize that dForce was already two years old.)
All that said, if you have one of the RSSY clothing converters, that should be able to handle it OK. I think.
Its a kit bash of different things look in the additional products used section and most of its there. If you post a link to the promo it makes it a bit easier for people to help you.

You can "unfit" it again after autofit (right click the object, select "Fit [object] to" and then "None"
Yes, but the issue is that if you let autofit complete its process in the first place, all the custom bones in the dress "tails" will be removed automatically. That's why I said not to let it run; if you want to preserve all the bones, you need to Cancel autofit as soon as it pops up. I don't know what I did specifically to make Mortella Dress work on G2 -- it's been a couple years -- but I think what I did was to use Transfer Utility and Merge Hierarchies to get it from V4 to G2. Unfortunately, it's been long enough that I don't remember specifically.

I was about to add to wishlist or purchase as I was agreeing with you; I do, however, own the character already. Typical: bought and either not used or just did my usual: do you load? quick custom job on textures for Agenesis 2 shader and promptly forget.

IH Kang (as Kang1hyun) and BatLab did have some male school uniforms at rendo, but both artists are no longer there, and for some reason I think SIckleyield had one over there at one time as well. Given the glaring lack of a school uniform in the Yuzuru Pro Bundle, however, I'm hoping the idea that it's an as of yet unreleased product is a good one.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards it being something Crocodile Liu hasn't released yet, as the design doesn't match any of the ones I've seen suggested, (like the one you linked, the collar and shoulders are different enough to be a different model.)

dress has no sleeves no worries about the A pose
G8 comes with the clones for Genesis 1-3 included. No need to buy anything unless you want to go the other way and put G8 clothes on the earlier generations..
