Newbie horizon problems, argh

I'm trying to follow David Brinnen's 20 minute beginner's tut here

And it makes sense to me finally! :lol: But I am stuck on a problem I've had before but now is worse...lol... When I rotate the camera triangle around so it points "north" and then widen the FOV as directed, my horizon is all crooked when I render the test scene. I find that the camera lines in the wireframe view are sort of rotated, and I can't find a way to fix them in Edit.

Is there a shortcut somewhere that can be used to line up the view when you need all the angles to be perfectly straight? I've been struggling over this and it's making me crazy...ggrr. I can send along a screenshot if you need one...

    Yes a screenshot would be a good idea so that I can get my head around the problem.

    Right...I had to use my free Personal Learning Ed. on my PC to simulate the problem, since I can't work out how to make a simple screenshot with IrfanView on my laptop. But, anyway, I did it here...even though on the PC the free program didn't seem to want to get wonky, so I had to force it to!

    Here's what I have got...an exaggerated version of the trouble so that it is easier to see...when I adjust the FoV there is rotation that I of course do not want, and that is what makes my horizon get all skewed... And Bryce 7 doesn't seem to want to cooperate and let me straighten the angles. So how can I do that?? :-/

    You can move the camera have you tried that......Trish

    Well, I don't know how this happened, but it should be easy to fix.

    From the overhead view (keyboard shortcut "2"), select the camera, click on "A" and set the z value shown to zero. That will take the bank out of the camera.

    Umm, yes, that's easy, but for some reason on my laptop the angles were getting all crooked after I had the camera positioned pointing "north"... Like David says, I've no idea why that happened either... Very frustrating for a noobie... seems like a minor wrinkle but I could not get the angles to straighten...not manually anyway... ;-)

    AHH, thank you, that should do it!! The notion of going into Adjustments did occur to me, but there was I, trying mightily to make corrections manually....Duh!! Now occasionally I can imagine that one might actually want the horizon to bank that way...it would look like the view from an airplane, preparing to land on a tropical island or something... :) But in my case, noooooo, that is too advanced, lol
