Hair shadows

I am using the Shirley hair for gen 8 which I really like but I keep running into a problem. The hair has these random strands that are kind of scattered around for extra realism but they cast shadows from certain angles which are very unrealistic looking and make a 'cracked' pattern across the character's face that makes it look like their face is cracking apart. Looks terrible.  Anything to do about this?

  • If they have their own surface you could use the Surfaces pane to set them to be transparent. You could also soften your light - in Iray, give the local lights a non-point shape in their parameters.
