Hey everyone, I'm just curous about people's experiences with Actual Hair v2, does it give as good results as it says it does, can you use it for male hairstyles, would you recommend it to someone else after purchasing it? It's on sale right now and I've had my eye on it for awhile I just wanna get some outsider opinions, maybe people posting some renders with it in the scene, it would help me make this decision. Thanks in advance!

I like AH2. Renders of M6 and G6 in default T-Pose, with hair, preset and MATs applied, no other morphs or adjustments. Small poke thrus on M6 after autofit, but I applied no morphs or adjustments, just fit for a quick render. The springhairs and layers show off well with rim or fill lighting. Well worth buying IMO.
I bought it on sale too.
I only use Reality for my renders and hair is a never ending struggle. The problem, according to the Reality forum, has something to do with the way Luxrender handles transparency maps - anything other than complete mat black in the black areas of the transparency will turn glossy on render. This product is no different so I have to turn down specular/gloss settings to minimum to get anything like good results.
I wish I could get a nice sheen like the blonde above but I'm not prepared to ditch Luxrender for 3Delight just for the hair.
I also bought the first edition of Actual Hair in the same sale. This, at first glance, looks better than AH2 - it handles transparency and specular setting nicely. However, it is almost impossible to pose it without one of the many layers intersecting with another and resulting in a straight-line cut across the image (see example below).
Both AH products will be returned for refund, sadly.
I must oppose - although I don't have AH2, I own the first version and it is among my strict favourites. It has five realistic textures, which don't require any adjustments for my private use (I tend to be a freak when it comes to textures, so I usually alter them for my rendering pleasure). It comes with several presets, which drastically change the look from wavy, slick, modern bob and something in between. You can also style the hair yourself as it has many morph targets to use. I never had any problems with posing, maybe it's because I enjoy it. No pokethrough experienced, despite the fact I use it on children and teens, which are more drastic morphs to get your hairdos to work. If I were you, I would get the first package, as it is very versatile. I don't know anything about the second version, but I'd say it is more modern-influenced and it looks rather female-oriented.
