I did rebel yell and its expansion as a buyout over the summer, so I've already seen every dime I'm going to get out of it.

Still, I wanted to promote it a little.

You get a lot in the expansion. It's not just several distinct texture sets.

  • You get an extra pair of shorts (the running shorts).
  • You get two additional pairs of shoes (athletic trainers and heeled boots).
  • You get a helmet.
  • You also get a rigged kusarigama.

I had some fun making this one.

Looking great. Thanks for the notes about the expansion. Just bought them both.

These went in my cart as soon as I saw them.  Really just incredible work and the only possible "still wants" that I can think of would be to add a set of garters and a hose texture for the leggings, and a set of morphs for the leggings to slide down so they could be asymetrical in action shots.

I'm getting a distinct JRPG vibe from this outfit, and I am perfectly okay with that~

Hi, i just gladly bought outfit itself (and after reading this thread, got interested in expansion as well. Kusarigama is what i love thanks to "Ninja Assasin" movie and "Ninja Gaiden II" game).

However, i have a question... I just got DAZ crashed when loading full costume on a character. After further tests, looks like it was because of RAM memory usage.

I only have 16 gb ram. I'm on win10, and often have browser and some other stuff running, so i usually have ~12 gb ram free (~4 gb is eaten by windows, browser etc. If i disable browser, it will free 1 more gb, and maybe 400 mb more for some other stuff. But windows itself eats 2-3 gb often. While win7 appetite was 1,5-1.7 gb. oh well).

If i load "everything without jacket" on a character with hair, during render i see that ~9 gb ram is occupied, of which ~5-6 is daz studio

If i load "only jacket" on character without other clothes, i see that around ~8,5 gb ram is occupied, of which ~4,5 -5 is daz doing things

So by my math, daz with character with full outfit should eat 9-10 gb of ram

But i got crash. though i forgot headphones maybe when comparing. But anyway, its just one character + hair + outfit... Eating so much memory.

Considering that i won't upgrade ram soon (its just the situation, no details sorry), what could you advise me to reduce memory usage of Yell rebel?

Thanks for bumping this thread and bringing this outfit and expansion to my attention, I totally missed it somehow!

You could try resizing the texture files.  Make their height and width smaller.  Depending on your image editor of choice, you might also be able to optimize or reduce the quality of the textures to make the file sizes smaller too.

Just make sure that when you save them the file names and extensions are the same, otherwise you'll wind up having to reassign all the textures in the surface tab.

Rebel Yell eats up a lot of memory in Iray preview, but not so much in texture-shaded mode.  It is not high-poly, but it does have 4k textures.  You can reduce them to 2k with Scene Optimizer without losing much detail.  That way you don't need to edit the textures separately.  With 16 Gb of RAM, you will get a lot of use out of Scene Optimizer.

You already seem aware, but 16 Gb is not a lot of memory for working in DS in Iray preview.  You really do need to shut down everything else.  If you need to have a browser open for reference, do not use Chrome.  Since MS Edge got better, I've switched and have no regrets.
