Are there "modeling for Studio best practices / guides" available ?
Good day.
I am more and more creating simple props and simple clothing to import as OBJ into Studio. I am getting usable results with Transfer Utility, changing textures, adjusting material settings etc. So, not a total noob anymore.
Question:
Are there official guidlines or best practices from DAZ available about how to model, UV and texture for Studio?
I bought a tutorial, but that unfortunately contains endless talking about "I do this and that" but does not clearly explain the why. I am hoping for a more clear and concentrated technical explanation. For example, in the tutorial I bought, the tutor is reading out a list of numerous surface names which is wasting so much time but does not explain why the surfaces are grouped the way they are. So, in the end I was constantly forwarding the video to find the real information. Maybe there is something in written form available that avoids this endless fill talking that sometimes plaques video tutorials?
To not sound negative, I watched a lot of good videos (youtube) that helped to understand numerous of those little things in Studio. And the forum is also a big help.

I general, I would say no.
Documentation for Daz Studio is rather sparse.
But you can find some for the different areas.
In your post I assume you are talking of the different setting in the shader. Sickleyild has a page in Deviantart describing the different parameters for Iray. And Iray is Nvidia developed, and you might be able to find other sources for that.
And for basic modelling, that is not something Daz Studio specific. There you can use any good modelling guide.
Rigging is Daz Studio specific. There I can't remember seeing any good guides. There are some - Sickleyild also has some videos on Youtube for that.
Thanks.
Unfortunately the answer I expected. Quite interesting that DAZ does not focus on information for content creators even though their business model relies on those.
