Daz 4.12 lights not showing up in render.. Need Laura Croft/Indiana Jones to find setting.
Hello all!
In short, I don't think this is a bug. Hence why I didn't submit a ticket. The problem is, since I very first started using this program none of the lights worked. Distant, point, etc.. However, there is always one distant light that I did not make in the preview and the render. You can't see it (the three arrows), but it's there and you can see it's light interacting with stuff in the scene. It's shining directly from the right side of the scene according to the spinny cube. It's there if I put other lights in the screen or if I have no lights in the scene. Nothing about it changes. I've been making due with one light and orienting all of the contents of the scene to get it to hit from the angle I want it, but that is a HUGE pain.
I'm figuring that it's a setting somewhere that I can't find. It's not the first, I read every tutorial I could find on lighting and for example, there is no option, anywhere in this program, under any tab that contains the word "shadow." That's a problem for another day though. Currently, I'd like to discover what setting either toggles my lights on and this mysterly light from stage left off or settings if there are more than one if anyone happens to know..
I searched the net and these forums. Apparently, I'm the first person who has ever had this problem.. :p lol One point that might be relevant. I did read that the "head lamp" should go out when you load a light into the scene. It stays on in the preview but shuts off for the render if I load my own light into the scene. So the headlamp reacts to my loading lights into the scene, but is unaware of the ever-present mystery light. I'm including two renders. One without a light in the scene (made by me) and one with a light that I made. (You know what they say, a picture's worth a thousand words a noob doesn't understand, lol.)
Thanks in advance for the help!
(Oh, and don't judge - I just threw some cloths on her for this forum and I was in the middle of doing her shoes. Once done with the matching dress, I think she'll look the bomb dot com. Plus, her eye makeup looks awesome in direct light. Sideways light makes her eyeballs look like two marbles being poo'd out by a black cat.)
This is without a light added to the scene.
This is WITH a light I added almost right behind the camera and pointing almost the exact same direction as the camera.

Render Settings / Environments change to Scene Only. Render Settings / General set Auto Headlamp to Never.
You are my HERO!!! This has been driving me batshit crazy! Stupid dome emits its own light source...
The Dome says "I'm not the one that is stupid!"
Ho-lee smokes!! Thank you!! :D That did it!! I've got more to work on now, to get the lighting looking right. BUT at least now I can work on the lights! :D
This is great! First realistic looking light I've been able to make. :) Still a long way to go - lots of details to master. Thank you so much for taking the time to point this out to us.
The model doesn't look too impressed. But I am!
