Daz Content defaults to "shared" folder?
Another question related to my fresh install. I note the default path for Daz Studio content on a Mac is User/shared/....Is there a reason why the default isn't a folder within applications/dazstudio? Or something in the documents folder. Seems odd to have all this content in a shared folder at that higher hierarchy level.

This is the default install path for content, rather than applications, so Applications wouldn't be appropriate. As the DAZ 3D EULA allows content to be shared by different users in a household, Shared is the most appropriate default to use. You can, of course, install content anywhere you want -- you don't have to use the default.
Thanks. Is there any performance benefit in having the content on a separate drive? When working in Adobe CS I have the programs on the internal drive and the video on an secondary drive...and render to a third drive.
Performance...not so much.
Sanity...very much so.
Keeping the content out of the the OS/applications partition makes for easy restoring of it, if needed. Many of us with lots of content prefer keeping it on a separate drive...some use an internal drive, some a network drive and others a portable drive.
Thanks. I've installed some material already. Can I just drag that "My Daz Library" to another drive, or are there other files installed in other places I'm not aware of? Or is the best way to re-install from DIM to that alternate drive?
The best way would be to uninstall it using DIM (if it was installed that way to begin with), and then install to the correct path. That way DIM will know where it is installed to, and it can uninstall it again for you.
You could just drag and drop the folder, but then DIM would not be able to update or uninstall the contents of that folder again.
As long as you change the path in your download tab you should be fine. I would still recommend what Jimmy said though. It will avoid any possible issue
Thanks...I'll re-install. I want to do it right as this machine is all about Daz Studio and graphics rendering. I'm using a mac pro so I can install four internal drives.
